Toronto Wedding and Engagement Photography Locations – Permit information- Downtown Core

Downtown Toronto is bursting at the seams with stunning locations. From Old Town to Dundas Square there are lots of options to chose from. Most of the parks in the city offer photo permits from May to October, other locations on the list are available all year long. Check out some of our favourite Toronto wedding & engagement photography locations.


Osgoode Hall

I visited the indoors of Osgoode hall during the Doors Open Toronto event and as truly beautiful it is, sadly no photos are allowed indoors.  The gardens, main facade and beautiful architecture make this a perfect location any time of the year.

St Lawrence Market

I’ve worked at St Lawrence Market for years and love the old school vibe. Although a permit is needed for indoor photography, there are lots of outdoor appeal in the old town part of Toronto.

Hart House

Beautiful neo-gothic architecture, gardens and no shortage of arched alleyways make Heart House a stunning outdoor photography location.

Union Station

Although this is a busy area of the city, there are opportunities to catch the vastness of architecture and urban vibe during the weekends and early mornings.

The Distillery Historic District

This pedestrian only 19th century block is a perfect cobble stone backdrop for a more rustic feel.

James Garden

This park offers many spaces with beautiful bridges, fountains, gazebos and lush foliage.

Casa Loma

This one and only Toronto castle is a stunning backdrop with beautifully landscaped gardens and luxurious balconies.

Esplanade & Gooderham Building

This stunning street in old town Toronto offers brick buildings and quirky looking facades.

Alexander Muir Gardens

This park offers beautiful vintage structures and symmetrical staircases. Perfect for those wedding party shots.

Old City Hall

This is a perfect location since it offers a contrast bewteen the old and the new. Beautiful arches of the Old City Hall contrast the skyscrapers of Bay street.

TD Tower

  A perfect representation of Urban life, tall skyscrapers, lots of tunnel like alleys and interesting modern architecture.

One King West Hotel & Residence

A historic gem with rich history as the former branch of Toronto Dominion Bank, One King West offers luxurious architectural designs from turn of the century.

Knox College

Another interesting spot on University of Toronto campus. Knox College offers stunning tunneled archways with beautiful gardens and geometrical designs.

Art Gallery of Ontario

One of the most stunning modern architectural pieces in the city, AGO offers minimal yet vast backdrops. From the main hallway with the spiral staircase to the clean design of Galeria Italia, AGO is a definite must for the brides looking for a minimalist background

Permit: Unfortunately, only couples getting married at AGO have the ability to capture photos.


Yorkville Village

The contrast between the structures and new geometrical buildings with abstract designs (ROM)  makes this a perfect location for those who are undecided between the historic or modern feel.

Graffitti Alley

If you are looking for a colorful backdrop with an urban twist, it doesn’t get any better than Graffitti Alley. Make sure to take a walk through the entire stretch to pick fave illustrations.
