West Toronto & Mississauga photography locations & permits

 Since I just got married in February and had to do some soul searching when it came to the wedding photo-shoot. Here is the list of parks and  interesting spots that I have compiled during my search for West Toronto & Mississauga photography locations & permits. Enjoy!




High Park

High park is a beautiful location for engagement sessions, some of my friends took their pictures during the cherry blossom bloom in May. However the park does not officially allow wedding or engagement sessions.

Location: Bloor St W & Parkside Dr

Permit: Not required


Trinity Bellwoods Park

Although small in size, this park features beautiful gates and pathways for an elegant backdrop. The feature picture highlights the beautiful gateway to the park.

Location: Gore Vale Ave & Queen St W

Permit: Not required


Queen Street West

This eclectic stretch of Queen street is full of interesting building facades and alleyways. Make sure to stop by a few coffee shops for that casual feel.

Location: Queen St, between Spadina Ave and Shaw St

Permit: Not required


The Old Mill

Situated on the edges of Humber Valley this historic hotel offer a vintage backdrop with heritage buildings and turn of the century architectural accents.

Location:

Permit: Required and only available for outdoor areas ($250 per hour). Indoor photography available to couples getting marries at Old Mill Inn. More information is available here.


Centennial Park

This park features a conservatory with exotic plants and can be an option for both indoor and outdoor photography.

Location: Renforth Rd & Rathburn Ave

Permit: Required – $472.02 per 2 hour. Read more here.


Port Credit

This is a stunning location on Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Credit River. Lots of trails and bridges make this for a perfect outdoor location. There is also a gazebo and an old abandoned ship.

Location: 32 Stavebank Rd N.

Century City

This park offers lots of walkways and a gazebo for a more formal setting. If you are looking for that field look, this is the spot for you.

Adamson Estate

This vast waterfront park is located east of the mouth of the Credit River. The grounds are open to public while the indoor photography is not allowed since the structure is occupied by the Royal Conservatory of Music. This location offer lots of stunning foliage arches as well as bridges.

Kariya Park

If you are planning to take pictures in late spring, you can find cherry blossom trees blooming in this park. Otherwise this is a beautiful lush location with oriental accents in bridges and structures.

Rattray Marsh Conservation Area

Located on lake Ontario in Mississauga, this park is filled with wooden walkways spanning over the marshlands, with beautiful lookouts. They also offer wedding packages for reception.

Location: 660 Bexhill Road, Mississauga,

Permit: It is unclear whether a permit is needed, although I’ve been in the park many times and saw many photos taken, so I can’t imagine they would kick you out.


Riverwood Conservancy Park

Old brick mansion tucked away in lush foliage offers an intimate yet beautiful setting. The Chappell House and MacEwan Terrace Garden are perfect backdrops.

Benares Historic House

This historic Georgian Style estate offers a picturesque backdrop with park like setting in its surroundings. Photography is not allowed inside.

Leslie Hog House

This 19th century log house build by a Scottish inhabitants in 1824  is a wonderful backdrop for a minimal yet rustic look. Not to mention that the surrounding area is a beautiful park.

Bradley House Museum

Located in the Meadow Wood Park this structure is a stunning example of Georgian architecture. The beautiful thing about this location is that photographs are allowed outside as well as inside the historic interiors. Which is quite unusual with historic locations.

Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens

This floral paradise is at its height between May and end of June and offers Canada’s largest collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. Simply stunning for those romantic sun glaring pictures.

Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Garden

Tucked away right in the downtown core area of Mississauga, this finely groomed garden offers cozy areas, between the bench circle and little walkways, this is a little paradise in the middle of urban jungle.

Erindale Park

This vast park is a perfect location for a walk in the park photo shoot. The main feature is a large bridge for those clean perspective shots.

Richard’s Memorial Park

If sandy beaches are your look, this is a perfect location. With lake Ontario spilling into the banks of this park, you can definitely catch those vacation vibes.

St. Lawrence Park Gazebo

This gazebo is perfectly tucked away in to the shore of lake Ontario and is located just next to a beautiful lakeshore walk way as well as a white stone beach. This is a popular location on the weekends, so I would suggest coming earlier in the day.
